Effective July 21, 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies to the House Hand website, mobile apps, marketplace, support center, and related services. House Hand connects homeowners with independent workers; it does not perform or supervise the work.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, phone number when provided, account role, sign-in and verification status, and acceptance of our terms.
- Homeowner information: display name, saved city or neighborhood, phone number, job descriptions, photos, timing, budget, general location, exact job address, access notes, and contact preferences.
- Worker information: display name, phone number, city, service area, profile photo, business details, services, experience, availability, pricing notes, equipment, credentials, portfolio photos, offers, and saved jobs.
- Marketplace activity: offers, clarifications, messages, worker selections, job status, reviews, reports, notifications, support requests, and related administrative actions.
- Location information: a city or manually entered area, or device location when you choose to grant permission. House Hand uses location to show nearby jobs and workers. You can use manual location entry instead of device location.
- Device and security information: session and device identifiers, encrypted push-notification tokens, app version, device type, timestamps, and privacy-protected network or device signals used for security, rate limiting, reliability, and fraud prevention.
Free-form descriptions, messages, photos, and support requests may contain information you choose to provide. Do not include passwords, payment card details, government identification numbers, or information unrelated to the job.
3. How we use information
- Run accounts, restore signed-in sessions, and remember a user's homeowner or worker mode.
- Publish jobs, match nearby workers, deliver private offers, and support homeowner selection.
- Unlock the selected worker's direct-contact and job-location details so the parties can coordinate the work.
- Deliver in-app and, when enabled, email, text, or push notifications requested as part of the service.
- Operate support, review reports, investigate suspicious activity, enforce marketplace rules, prevent abuse, and protect users.
- Maintain the service, diagnose failures, preserve audit history, and understand whether core marketplace flows are working.
House Hand does not use personal information for third-party advertising and does not sell personal information.
4. What other people can see
Public and signed-out visitors may see active job photos, the description, category, timing, budget range, city, neighborhood or approximate location, and other public job details. They do not receive the homeowner's exact address, phone number, email address, or private access notes.
Homeowners may see worker profiles, relevant experience, portfolio items, reviews, and private offers. A worker's phone number and a homeowner's exact job address and selected contact details are shared between those parties only after the homeowner selects that worker. House Hand administrators may access information when reasonably needed for support, safety, security, disputes, or operation of the marketplace.
Credential documents are not made public unless a worker deliberately marks an eligible item public. A credential label or review state is not a guarantee that the credential is current, complete, or suitable for a particular job.
5. Service providers and disclosures
House Hand may use infrastructure, database, file-storage, email, phone-verification, text-message, and push-notification providers to operate the service. These providers process only the information needed to perform their function under their own contractual and security obligations. The providers enabled for a particular release may change as the service develops.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect a person from harm, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our terms, or complete a business transfer. We do not give advertisers access to House Hand account or marketplace data.
6. Photos and files
House Hand processes uploaded job, profile, portfolio, and credential files to store and display them safely. Supported photos are cleaned of common camera metadata, including embedded GPS information, before storage. Job photos and public portfolio media may still reveal details visible in the image itself, so review them before uploading.
7. Retention and account deletion
House Hand keeps information while an account is active and as needed to provide the marketplace. Retention can vary by record type. Short-lived sign-in and recovery tokens expire; draft files and operational records may be removed on a schedule; completed marketplace, safety, dispute, fraud-prevention, payment, tax, and audit records may be retained when reasonably necessary or legally required.
You can request account deletion from your House Hand account or our account deletion page. We revoke account access and remove or de-identify personal profile information that is not subject to a legitimate retention need. Retained records are restricted to the purpose that requires them and are not kept as an active public profile.
8. Your choices
- Edit profile, service-area, contact, and marketplace information from your account.
- Use manual city entry instead of granting device location access.
- Enable or disable push notifications in House Hand and in device settings.
- Request account deletion, cancel a pending request before processing begins, or contact support about retained information.
9. Security and age limits
House Hand uses access controls, private data projections, encrypted notification tokens, expiring sessions, file validation, and audit records to reduce risk. No online service can promise absolute security. Protect your device and account access, and report suspected misuse promptly.
House Hand is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the marketplace.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as House Hand changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how we handle personal information.
For privacy questions, access requests, or deletion help, use the House Hand support center. For an immediate safety emergency, contact local emergency services first.
